Vittorino Pata was born in Bergamo, Italy, in 1966. He received the Laurea Degree in Physics at the University of Milan in 1990 with final grade 110/110 cum laude, and the Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics at Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1994 with final GPA 4.00/4.00. From 1996 to 2000 he was Assistant Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Brescia; from 2000 to 2001 Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, where he became Full Professor in early 2002. For a number of years, he has been the youngest  Full Professor of Politecnico.

During his career, he has been Visiting Professor in several scientific institutions, among which Indiana University, the Institute “Henri Poincaré” (University of  Paris-Sorbonne), the University of Poitiers and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

His research interests touch various aspects of Pure and Applied Mathematics. In particular, Operator Theory, Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems, Functional Analysis and Measure Theory.

Vittorino Pata is author/coauthor of more than 150 scientific papers appeared on international journals. He has more than 2500 citations with H-index 28 (Scopus).
