Professor of Electronics at Politecnico di Milano and member of the faculty board of the PhD School in Information Technology. His research activities are in semiconductor radiation detectors and related mixed-signal ASICs. He received the Laurea in Nuclear Engineering from PoliMI and since 1987 he joined the research group of Prof. Emilio Gatti. He has been visiting researcher at Brookhaven National Laboratory (NY, USA)and at Canberra Industries (CT, USA). He collaborates with ASI,ESA, INAF andINFN in R&D on electron devices and ICs for X-γray space telescopes and with several companies for the development of the electronics of X-γray imaging spectrometers for scientific, industrial and medical applications.

He has served as professor at international courses on radiation detectors and associated electronics organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Since 1988 he is member of the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics(INFN). He is author of over 170 scientific publications (Scopus) and 19 invited talks at international conferences. He is the recipient of the RTSD Scientist Award 2019, international prize assigned to individuals who has made high-impact contributions to the development of room temperature semiconductor detector and related electronics technologies.
